Purpose of the Job
- To further FMN PLC’s commitment to improving Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) performance by facilitating adherence to health safety and environment objectives and compliance with local regulatory requirements, to prevent injury and maintain a safe working environment.
The Job
- Ensure the company’s Health and Safety Policy is implemented, spell consistently across the organization.
- Monitor, evaluate and review Health and Safety policy and practice, make recommendations and implement new policies and procedures as required.
- Advise management team on the implications of current and emerging health, safety and welfare legislation, including evaluating options, making recommendations and generating actions plans to ensure compliance across the organization.
- Identification of training needs for employees, develop training materials and deliver training as required.
- Implement and evaluate safety program like BBS, Walk the talk, Toolbox, Machine Safety, Safety Zones and vehicle safety management.
- Maintain safe systems of work, providing specialist advice, coaching and practical support.
- Assist managers implement health and safety systems and procedures to meet specific requirements, such as accident reporting and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health COSHH in a consistent and effective approach.
- Carry out audits to evaluate the effectiveness of Health and Safety systems and procedures and identify and implement improvements Ensure routine health and safety activities and checks are carried out e.g. testing of portable electrical appliances and the review of risk assessments Monitor compliance to safety standard.
Requirements
- B.Sc./ HND in Engineering, Environmental Sciences or related course.
- Occupational Health & Safety qualification (HSE level 3) is an added advantage.
- NEBOSH Certificate, Membership of the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria ISPON will be a plus.

- Have strong analytical skills.
- Possess the ability to adapt to changing situations and prioritize tasks.
