Responsibilities
- Examine injured/sick personnel and provide first aid and basic medical care
- Check and document patients' vital signs
- Carry out relevant medical tests (e.g. BP, blood sugar, malaria test)
- Advise staff and personnel on-site on how to maintain healthy living
- Operate and maintain emergency room and first aid facilities
- Ensure proper segregation and disposal of medical waste generated from the emergency room
- Assist in evacuation of injured/sick patients (Medvac) to retainer ship hospital
- Ensure medical reports of patients transported to the retainer ship hospital are received on time
- Ensure ER hygiene
- Participate in monthly drill exercises
- Conduct monthly health talks for staff
- Collaborate with other HSE personnel in the investigation of incidents/accidents on site
- Maintain records of injuries and diseases on site
- Provide basic training and other medical training materials for induction of new workers
- Communicate with managers for advice and assistance in case of injuries and diseases
- Ensure smooth and efficient running of the emergency room, with regular checks of drug stock and expiry dates
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (Nursing), Registered Nurse (RN), RPON
- Certifications in BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) are an added advantage
