Job Title: Purchasing Officer (Lassa Fever Project)
Location: Bauchi
Employment Type: Full-time

Main Purpose

To carry out daily purchasing tasks in accordance with MSF procurement procedures and standards to ensure smooth operation of the Lassa Fever Project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle daily purchasing duties including market analysis and supplier price comparisons
  • Evaluate local suppliers to ensure the best value and quality for purchases
  • Request and verify invoices, receipts, and translate local-language documents as needed
  • Complete and maintain accurate purchase orders, delivery notes, and accounting records
  • Keep requesters updated on their order status and maintain a clear purchasing archive
  • Support reception control processes and assist storekeepers during deliveries
  • Regularly update supplier, item, and pricing information in the procurement system
  • Obtain multiple quotations where necessary and ensure compliance with MSF policies
  • Prepare monthly or quarterly purchasing reports for supervisor review
  • Carry out other delegated tasks as assigned

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Supply Chain, or a related field

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years in supply chain or related procurement roles
  • Prior experience with MSF or an international NGO is a strong asset

Languages:

  • Proficiency in English is required
  • Knowledge of Hausa is a plus

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Results-oriented and committed to MSF principles
  • Excellent team spirit, stress management, and adaptability
