Job Title: Purchasing Officer (Lassa Fever Project)
Location: Bauchi
Employment Type: Full-time
Main Purpose
To carry out daily purchasing tasks in accordance with MSF procurement procedures and standards to ensure smooth operation of the Lassa Fever Project.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle daily purchasing duties including market analysis and supplier price comparisons
- Evaluate local suppliers to ensure the best value and quality for purchases
- Request and verify invoices, receipts, and translate local-language documents as needed
- Complete and maintain accurate purchase orders, delivery notes, and accounting records
- Keep requesters updated on their order status and maintain a clear purchasing archive
- Support reception control processes and assist storekeepers during deliveries
- Regularly update supplier, item, and pricing information in the procurement system
- Obtain multiple quotations where necessary and ensure compliance with MSF policies
- Prepare monthly or quarterly purchasing reports for supervisor review
- Carry out other delegated tasks as assigned
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Supply Chain, or a related field
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years in supply chain or related procurement roles
- Prior experience with MSF or an international NGO is a strong asset
Languages:
- Proficiency in English is required
- Knowledge of Hausa is a plus
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Word
