Role Overview

  • Lead operational health, safety, and environmental (HSE) activities on the plant floor, ensuring compliance with ISO45001 and ISO14001 standards and embedding a data-driven safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all shift-level safety operations, toolbox talks, and permit-to-work systems.
  • Develop and maintain HSE policy manuals, emergency response plans, and hazardous materials SOPs.
  • Monitor emissions, dross/waste handling, and environmental compliance via checklists and dashboards.
  • Conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, root‑cause analyses, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Liaise with factory inspectors and regulatory bodies; prepare inspection reports and compliance documentation.
  • Collect, analyze, and report HSE metrics; collaborate with ESG Data Officer for corporate ESG reporting.
  • Deliver HSE training and coaching on PPE, fire safety installations, and emergency drills.

Smart KPIs

  • Incident Rate Reduction: Achieve ≤2 recordable incidents per 200,000 man-hours within 12 months.
  • Training Completion: 100% of employees are certified in emergency response and permitted‑to‑work within 6 months.
  • Audit Compliance: Reach 95% compliance score in bi-annual ISO45001 & 14001 audits.
  • Emission Targets: Maintain emissions below regulatory thresholds with monthly reporting accuracy ≥98%.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
  • NEBOSH or OSHA certification; ISO45001 Lead Auditor preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ HSE experience, including 3 years in manufacturing or recycling plants.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Data analytics and dashboarding proficiency.
  • Strong understanding of Nigerian and international HSE regulations.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication.
