About the Role
Health New Zealand is recruiting mammographers to support its symptomatic breast service and BreastScreen Aotearoa. The recruitment comes during investment in breast screening, including an expansion of free screening age eligibility from 50–69 to 45–74. The advert describes roles as immediately available across the country, rather than identifying a single hospital or location. Applications close on 1 February 2027.
Responsibilities
- Contribute mammography expertise to the symptomatic breast service and BreastScreen Aotearoa.
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centred care as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Requirements
- A recognised qualification in Mammography/Breast Imaging, including tomosynthesis.
- International qualifications must be assessed for equivalence.
- Eligibility for registration with the New Zealand Medical Radiation Technologists Board (MRTB). The employer offers help with this process.
- A commitment to high-quality, patient-centred care within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
Confirmed Benefits
- Core clinical salary scale of NZD 77,000–108,000 per annum.
- Advanced practice remuneration of up to NZD 116,000 per annum.
- Senior and leadership salary pathways of NZD 111,000–151,000 per annum.
- Four weeks of annual leave and 12 paid public holidays.
- Funded ongoing professional development.
- In-house Health Immigration and recruitment teams provide guidance on visa processing, MRTB registration and settling in New Zealand.
- Possible training pathways for standard Medical Imaging Technologists seeking to complete a postgraduate certificate in mammography; this is not a confirmed offer for every applicant.
What Applicants in Nigeria Should Know
- Applicants currently in Nigeria may apply under the employer’s invitation to global applicants. No Nigerian citizenship exclusion is stated, but qualification equivalence and MRTB registration eligibility remain essential.
- A Nigerian qualification or existing professional registration should not be assumed to establish New Zealand recognition automatically: international qualifications require equivalence assessment.
- These are New Zealand-based roles. The advert does not offer remote work from Nigeria.
- Visa-processing guidance and relocation support are confirmed, but explicit visa sponsorship and payment of relocation costs are not stated.
- The advert identifies mammographers as a Tier 1 Green List occupation and describes a Straight to Residence pathway for applicants and their families. This does not guarantee visa approval or establish an individual applicant’s immigration eligibility.
How to Apply
- Apply through the employer’s application portal for International Mammographers - New Zealand Roles, job reference MAM, by 1 February 2027.
- The advert states that the international recruitment team will contact applicants to discuss their journey.

Application Tips
Preparation advice, not an additional employer requirement: review how your qualification and clinical experience cover mammography, breast imaging and tomosynthesis before applying. Ask the recruitment team which salary pathway matches your experience and whether your preferred location offers full-time or part-time work. Also clarify what relocation assistance covers and which registration or immigration costs, if any, you would need to pay. The advert does not list required application documents.
Eligibility depends on the employer’s full requirements. An application or sponsorship offer does not guarantee a visa or employment.
