Responsibilities
- Support the optimization of total landing cost by ensuring cost-effective custom clearing processes through relationships with clearing agents, banks, and customs
- Accurately calculate and ensure prompt payment of all import and export taxes
- Review item HS codes, draft, and final assessments for correctness
- Analyze key parameters (cost, safety, carrier availability) and suggest alternatives for improved efficiency
- Provide stakeholders with periodic reports on shipment status
- Review and analyze shipment status reports
- Understand Incoterms and assess their impact on company risk and landed costs
- Monitor vendor compliance with correct HS code applications
- Evaluate clearing agents' performance based on SLA
- Review and archive shipment-related documents and Final Exchange Control Documentation (FECD); transfer to relevant banks
- Liaise with clearing agents to achieve KPIs, including shipment delivery, invoicing, and FECD submission
- Ensure freighting activities comply with international and local regulations
Requirements
- BSc/HND in a relevant field
- 3–4 years of experience in freight or trade compliance
- Strong knowledge of import/export regulations
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience in regulatory compliance and document handling
