The Lester B. Scholarship Overview
Awarded annually, the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarships are the University of Toronto’s most prestigious and competitive scholarships for international students. They cover tuition, books, incidental fees, and full residence support for four years. These scholarships are tenable only at the University of Toronto and are available for first-entry undergraduate programs. Each year, approximately 37 students are selected as Lester B. Pearson Scholars.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be an international student (non-Canadian requiring a study permit).
- Be in their final year of secondary school or have graduated no earlier than June 2024.
- Begin their studies at the University of Toronto in September 2025.
Application Process
- School Nomination: Students must be nominated by their school. High schools not already contacted or verified must apply to participate in the program. Schools that have participated previously will receive nomination access starting July 1, 2024.
- University Application: Students must apply to study at the University of Toronto by October 18, 2024, for a September 2025 start. The Pearson Scholarship is awarded for the student’s first-choice program at U of T at the time of scholarship decisions.
- Scholarship Application: After receiving a nomination and applying to the university, students can complete the online Lester B. Pearson Scholarship application by November 8, 2024. They will receive a private link to the application upon successful nomination.
- Documentation Submission: All necessary documentation must be submitted online by November 8, 2024.
